The Piers Simon Appeal Marathon was a great social, family, fun event held on the running track at the school back in February 2006. The aim of the event was for teams to complete the marathon distance of 26 miles + 385 yards, 42 kilometres or 112 laps of the track. Approximately 180 participants took part with the ages ranging from baby buggies to grand parents. The oval (inside the track) resembled a village fete as stalls such as face painting, tin can alley and a tombola kept participants waiting to run occupied. Powerhouse Gym were on hand to provide aerobic work outs which was the perfect warm up for those runners waiting to do their share of the leg work, whilst masseurs were at hand to sooth aching feet after a finished stint. Other attractions included Chiang Mai Rock Climbing Adventures who rigged up guy lines and challenged the energetic male students to pull up competitions. Thank you to the Piers Simon Appeal student and staff committee who worked tirelessly before, during and after the event to make it a very successful day and our sincere gratitude goes to all who donated prizes to the draw and auction.

The Piers Simon Appeal Marathon raised over 260,000 baht (4,000 pounds). This money was sent to the charity “The Population and Community Development Association” – (for more information, see the PDA page in the section Southern Thailand on the bottom icon).
