REEF CLEAN UP MISSION
Current:
Andrew has organized up to 90 divers a day since Febryary. 4000 people have worked for him and 280 tonnes of debris have been removed from the seabed and taken away from Phi Phi. Andrew thanked us for trusting him and funding this project. He is about to re-start his business having achieved phase one of this goal. There is still much more to do, but he is hoping to attract divers who will be traned to improve the sea-bed's ecology. Andrew is short of equipment for this specialized work. A project the PSA could assist with?

We congratulated Andrew for his dedicated work for most of this year. It has been a huge undertaking and we hope Andrew can re-establish his excellent Adventure Club as soon as possible.
HI PHI PHI
Current:

At the Hi Phi Phi office we met the 2 Irish volunteer. Teachers will start lessons in Phi Phi School on November 1st. They were meeting Paul Crouch from the Regent School (Bangkok and Pattaya) who had raised funds to help the school's regeneration. A Yeovil friend John Burgess is the Regent School's Development Director and we promised to keep in touch with im to see if the PSA can help in any way. Phi Phi children currently at school in Krabi, are having their school fees paid, but if they return to Phi Phi they will need funding if their parents (those who still have parents) cannot afford the fees. PSA may be able to help?

MEMORIAL GARDEN
Current:

An Australian called Carol has started a large Memorial Garden with dedicated volunteer help, using funds from her fee for a Tsunami article in the Australian press. Carol lost her young daugter Sasha and her sister. Her little son Zak survived but it took Carol 7 months to build up the courage to return to Phi Phi. Now she is happy to be there.

On Christmas day she had lunch with 15 families and friends -- only 3 of them have survived. One of them a chap called Ben lost his British wife and his 2 children, and his beach bar has been wiped out. He has lost everything.

We asked if the PSA could help with the Garden and Carol thought some benches and mature trees would be needed. There may be individual commemoration plaques.

CHAIWAT MANEP (CHAID)
Current:
Chaid now has his longtail boat which he has aptly named "Hero". It has also resurrected an old family boat name used by his grandfather. The PSA has made this Phi Phi survivor a very happy man!
ZOIE GIBSON KENNEDY
Before we left the U.K. we had received a phone call from an actress Zoie Gibson Kennedy. She had raised money for the Tsunami relief and had a cheque for 2000 pounds for the PSA. Amazingly she would be on Phi Phi when we were there and wished to make a presentation of her cheque to us. She was making a film of her trip for the BBC, Inside Out (North). We filmed an interview with Zoie (who appears in The Royal) and we will keep in touch with her. She has many contacts in Thailand and Sri Lanka.
PERSONAL COMMENT

We always knew that our first trip to Phi Phi might be difficult for many obvious reason; In reality, having the two film crews with us made us feel positive and undoubtedly kept our emotions under control. The film guys are great in every way and we hope their films will show that the P.S.A. funding really has done so much good (and more than we could have believed when it was luanched in January). We fell in love with Phi Phi and plan to return in the New Year.
